How to Extract Tables from Any Web Page and Export to Excel

The Problem It Solves
Most web data lives on detail pages, not in clean tables. You visit page A, eyeball the fields you need, copy them into a spreadsheet, then repeat for page B, C, D… After 20 pages you’ve lost your place and your afternoon.
Traditional web scrapers don’t help much here. They assume every page shares one rigid HTML structure, and they break the moment a page looks slightly different. You also need to install software, write selectors, and babysit the output.
Extract Table takes a different approach: you tell the AI what you want, in plain language, and it pulls the matching data off every page you visit — even when the pages aren’t laid out the same way.
How It Works
Step 1: Set Your Headers
Open the AI Form Fills sidebar, click Extract Table, then Set Headers. You provide two things:

Column names with descriptions — one per line, in the format
ColumnName | what it means. For example:EmployeeID | the employee's staff number Name | full name Department | department name Phone | contact phoneThe description is optional but it dramatically improves accuracy, because the AI uses it to locate the right data on each page instead of guessing.

A user prompt (optional) — any extra instruction, like “only include active employees” or “use the listed price, not the crossed-out original price.”
Hit Save. Your headers are remembered for the whole session.
Step 2: Extract from Each Page
Navigate to the first page you want to pull data from and click Extract. The AI reads the page in the language you’re using, finds the data that matches each column you defined, and returns one structured row. The result appears instantly in a results table inside the sidebar.
Now flip to the next page, hit Extract again, and the new row is appended to the same table. Repeat across as many pages as you need — five, fifty, five hundred — building up one row per page. A live counter shows how many rows you’ve collected so far.
Step 3: Export to Excel
Click Export CSV. You get a clean delimited file where:
- Row 1 is your column headers (exactly as you named them)
- Every following row is one extracted record, aligned to those headers
- Missing values become blank cells, never misaligned garbage
Open it in Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers — it’s a normal spreadsheet, ready to sort, filter, and analyze.
Why It’s Different from Copy/Paste
AI Form Fills has always had a Copy & Fill workflow: capture a source page’s data and fill it into a target form. Extract Table is a new, independent mode built for a different job — collecting data across many pages rather than transferring it onto one form.
The two features don’t interfere with each other:
- Different buttons, different panels, different storage
- Extract Table writes to its own data store; your Copy/Paste history and session are untouched
- You can switch between the two any time without losing state
Behind the Scenes: Reliable by Default
A few engineering choices worth mentioning, because they directly affect how dependable the feature is in real use:
- Streaming output. Rows stream in as the AI generates them, so you see progress live instead of staring at a spinner.
- Column alignment is enforced. Even if the AI occasionally omits a field on one page, every row is re-aligned to your defined headers with empty cells filled in — so your export is always a rectangle, never a jagged mess.
- Graceful fallback. The feature talks to a dedicated backend endpoint; if that’s ever unavailable it transparently falls back to the streaming copy endpoint with a strict prompt — so the tool keeps working across deployments.
- Multi-language. The system prompt adapts to your selected language, so extraction quality stays high whether your pages are in English, Chinese, or anything else.
